Inkscape has an option for rounded polygons, but with that, the entire sides are rounded (no straight line segment), with sharper curve at corners and only a slight bend for the sides. Yesterday, I happened to want to draw a triangle with rounded corners, but did not manage to find any way of doing that, even after quite a bit of searching. To draw a straight line, click a point on the slide that you would like to start the line, move your cursor to the endpoint, and then click again.
